Qatar Airways has launched QVerse Island, its first-ever virtual destination inside Fortnite, one of the globe’s leading interactive gaming platforms. The digital hub offers players an imaginative recreation of Doha, blending the city’s iconic landmarks — including Hamad International Airport — with immersive adventures inspired by the airline’s world-class travel experience.
The journey begins at Hamad International Airport, where players are welcomed by Sama, Qatar Airways’ virtual cabin crew. Sama serves as the in-game guide, helping players navigate QVerse Island as they embark on thrilling, mission-driven challenges that showcase Doha’s vibrant attractions. Hidden across the island are golden tickets that unlock exclusive rewards, including the chance to win Qatar Airways flights and travel benefits.
A familiar face in the airline’s digital ecosystem, Sama plays an essential role in linking Qatar Airways’ interactive initiatives — from its web-based QVerse experience to immersive storytelling and online brand engagements. Her appearance in Fortnite reinforces the airline’s expanding digital identity and its commitment to connecting with audiences in innovative ways.
With QVerse Island, Qatar Airways taps into the growing influence of virtual environments and social gaming platforms on modern travel inspiration. The project highlights how digital exploration can spark real-world travel ambitions, bridging the gap between online engagement and physical journeys.
The launch coincides with Qatar Airways’ continued investment in advanced digital experiences, including the rollout of Starlink high-speed internet across its fleet. With over 120 aircraft now equipped, the airline operates the world’s largest collection of widebody jets offering connectivity speeds of up to 500 Mbps.
Passengers can enjoy ultra-fast Wi-Fi on flights spanning six continents — including destinations in the Americas, Australia*, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Together, QVerse Island, Sama, and Starlink embody Qatar Airways’ forward-looking strategy to deliver a seamless, connected travel experience that begins in the digital world and continues into the skies.
