flydubai, the Dubai-based low-cost carrier, today announced a strategic partnership with Emirates Aviation University through a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a dedicated Flight Dispatcher Cadet Programme. This initiative underscores flydubai’s ongoing investment in developing national talent and enhancing its internal aviation capabilities.
The MoU was formally signed by Nasser Binkherbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at flydubai, and Professor Ahmad Al Ali, Vice Chancellor of Emirates Aviation University. The ceremony was also attended by Hamad Obaidalla, flydubai’s Chief Commercial Officer, and Mick Hills, Chief Operations Officer. Slated to commence in July 2026, the programme will target Emirati nationals, providing a clear entry point into high-skill aviation roles without prior industry experience.
Cadets will participate in the 10-week Flight Dispatcher Initial Course (FDIC) at Emirates Aviation University in Dubai, an approved programme under the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) CAR Part II standards. The curriculum delivers comprehensive training in critical areas such as aviation regulations, meteorology, navigation, aircraft performance, weight and balance calculations, human factors, and flight planning, while fostering essential collaboration with flight crews to support safe and efficient operations.
Nasser Binkherbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at flydubai, said: “Investing in UAE national talent is central to flydubai’s growth strategy. This cadet programme not only bolsters our succession planning and training ecosystem but also advances national objectives by opening pathways to rewarding careers in flight dispatch, engineering, and piloting.”
Professor Ahmad Al Ali, Vice Chancellor of Emirates Aviation University, added: “With over three decades of expertise in aviation education, Emirates Aviation University is proud to partner with flydubai. We will leverage our specialised programmes to cultivate Emirati professionals, contributing to a robust and sustainable aviation workforce.”
Successful graduates, upon passing required written, oral, and practical assessments, will earn a Certificate of Course Completion, qualifying them for a flight dispatcher licence and long-term opportunities within flydubai and the wider sector.
This collaboration aligns with flydubai’s broader human capital strategy, complementing initiatives like the Ab Initio Pilot Training (MPL) programme, Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Apprenticeship, internships, and work placements. Together, these efforts support the UAE’s vision for a skilled, homegrown aviation workforce amid the airline’s network and fleet expansion.
