Air Astana has signed a definitive agreement with Boeing for the purchase of up to 15 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, marking the largest single fleet order in the history of Kazakhstan’s national airline.
The deal, confirmed on 17 February 2026, finalizes a commitment first announced in November 2025. The acquisition is a key step in Air Astana’s long-term fleet modernization plan and will support the carrier’s ambitions to expand its long-haul network.
In addition to the firm order, three more 787-9s will join the fleet through leasing arrangements, bringing the airline’s total potential Dreamliner count to 18 aircraft.
The introduction of the fuel-efficient and advanced 787-9 will significantly boost Air Astana’s widebody capabilities, enabling greater operational efficiency and an improved passenger experience. The new aircraft are expected to play a vital role in strengthening the airline’s position on intercontinental routes while advancing its commitment to sustainability and service excellence.
