flyadeal, Saudi Arabia’s low-cost airline, has taken delivery of its first new aircraft of 2026 — an Airbus A320neo — bringing its total fleet to 45 single-aisle jets.
The new aircraft arrived in Jeddah straight from Airbus’ assembly line in Toulouse, France, becoming flyadeal’s 34th A320neo and further strengthening the carrier’s all-Airbus fleet, which also includes 11 A320ceo models.
This delivery also marks the start of a new chapter in how the airline names its aircraft. Moving away from naming its planes after constellation stars, flyadeal’s newest jet has been named Al-Saqr (Falcon), after Saudi Arabia’s national bird. The falcon symbolizes strength, freedom, courage, and pride — values deeply rooted in Saudi heritage and reflected in the airline’s own brand identity.
flyadeal CEO Steven Greenway said the arrival of the new jet represents more than just another delivery milestone.
“It’s always exciting to celebrate a first. This aircraft marks the beginning of our journey toward a 50-strong fleet — a major achievement for a young airline like ours. With more aircraft joining us this year, we’ll be able to boost frequencies on existing routes and launch new ones as we continue to grow.”
Chief Operating Officer Abdulaziz Bahri added that the expansion underscores flyadeal’s confidence in the A320 family.
“Operating an all-A320 fleet has been key to our success. The aircraft delivers the efficiency and performance perfectly suited to our network across Saudi Arabia and beyond. Just six months ago, we celebrated our 40th aircraft; today, we’re at 45 — and we’re continuing to recruit more pilots, including those from the national cadet training program we joined last year.”
Head of Marketing and Customer Experience Hazar Hafiz said the airline’s new bird-themed naming approach draws inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s rich biodiversity and enduring connection to nature.
“Saudi Arabia sits along one of the world’s most important bird migration routes and is home to over 500 species. Birds capture the spirit of travel, movement, and freedom — ideas that align perfectly with who we are as an airline. By celebrating this connection, we hope to strengthen the emotional bond we share with our passengers.”
