EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering has obtained the internationally recognised AS9110 quality management certification, marking the first time the company has achieved the standard dedicated to aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organisations.
AS9110 is a specialised international quality management system designed for companies providing aircraft maintenance services. The certification confirms compliance with rigorous global standards for safety, quality, reliability, and operational performance.
The certification followed a comprehensive audit covering all of the company's departments and facilities, with assessments conducted across multiple technical and operational disciplines. Auditors from the certification body commended the organisation for its advanced technical capabilities, high operational standards, and the expertise of its workforce.
The successful audit and certification reinforce international confidence in the company while enhancing its reputation among airline customers and aviation partners worldwide.
Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company, congratulated the employees of EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering on securing the certification. He described the achievement as an important step in strengthening the competitiveness of Egypt's civil aviation sector on both regional and international levels.
Adel said the certification reflects the company's commitment to maintaining the highest international standards of safety and quality. He added that it would support efforts to expand market share, attract more international customers, and contribute to Egypt's broader strategy of developing global partnerships and maximising national resources.
Engineer Mohamed Sami, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering, praised the company's technical teams and employees for their performance during the audit process. He said the certification recognises the technical competence demonstrated across all facilities and departments.
Sami described AS9110 as a strategic milestone because it is specifically tailored to the maintenance, repair and overhaul sector. He noted that the standard introduces strict requirements covering continued airworthiness, risk management, safety, reliability, and safeguards against counterfeit aircraft parts entering maintenance operations.
He added that the certification further strengthens the company's standing as a trusted maintenance partner and approved supplier for major international airlines. It also creates new business opportunities through the company's inclusion in the global OASIS database for certified maintenance service providers, enhancing its international competitiveness.
Built upon the ISO 9001:2015 quality management framework, AS9110 incorporates additional aviation-specific requirements to address the complex safety demands of aircraft maintenance. The standard focuses on repair planning, risk management, maintenance quality, operational reliability, and workforce competence to ensure continued airworthiness.
By achieving AS9110 certification, EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering has demonstrated its ability to meet and exceed the stringent safety and performance expectations required by international aviation authorities and customers.
