Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has completed the acquisition of 100% of the outstanding share capital of Macquarie AirFinance (MAF) and its subsidiaries in a transaction valued at approximately $9 billion.
First announced in February 2026, the acquisition significantly expands DAE's global portfolio to around 1,000 owned, managed and committed aircraft leased to more than 175 airlines across 75 countries.
The company also holds commitments to acquire approximately 150 additional aircraft from Boeing, Airbus, ATR and other trading counterparties, further strengthening its long-term fleet pipeline.
DAE said it was advised on the transaction by Allen Overy Shearman Sterling LLP and KPMG.
Chief Executive Officer Firoz Tarapore said the completion of the acquisition marks another milestone in the company's growth strategy, describing it as the latest in a series of transformational acquisitions. He said DAE's expanded portfolio now makes it the world's third-largest aircraft lessor by both fleet value and the number of owned and managed aircraft.
Tarapore added that the enlarged business strengthens DAE's ability to provide airlines with a broader range of fleet solutions while building on recently announced initiatives with Blackstone and Neuberger to support customers throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
He also said the acquisition deepens DAE's long-standing partnerships with Boeing and Airbus, with aircraft delivery slots now extending into the 2030s. According to Tarapore, the expanded orderbook will provide greater flexibility to meet airlines' future fleet requirements while enabling the company to welcome new airline customers and further strengthen relationships with its existing client base.
