Finnair carried 1.126 million passengers in August 2026, marking a 2.3% increase from the same month a year earlier, as stronger European traffic offset declines in its North Atlantic and domestic operations.
The airline’s overall capacity, measured in available seat kilometres, fell 4.8% year on year. Including wet-lease operations, the decline was 8.4%.
Capacity edged higher across European and Asian routes but fell sharply on the North Atlantic network, despite the addition of Toronto. Finnair’s Middle East capacity remained at zero after the airline suspended services to the region on February 28 because of security concerns.
Revenue passenger kilometres declined 3.1%, while the passenger load factor improved to 80.3%. Revenue per available seat kilometre increased 12.3%, supported by stronger yields and higher aircraft occupancy.
Finnair’s cargo volumes also rose 2% during the month, although revenue cargo tonne kilometres decreased by 1%.
Operational performance improved as well. Some 81.4% of flights arrived on schedule in August, compared with 79.8% during the same month in 2025.
