Emirates has launched its first-ever service between Dubai and Helsinki, with flight EK167 departing Dubai at 07:30 with a near-full passenger and cargo load.
The inaugural flight carried a VIP delegation and members of the media, marking the start of the airline’s new daily route between the United Arab Emirates and Finland.
Emirates said the service creates the only year-round nonstop connection between the UAE and Finland. The route is also designed to provide passengers from nearly 140 destinations across the airline’s global network with convenient connections to Helsinki through Dubai.
The daily service is operated with an Airbus A350, the newest aircraft type in Emirates’ all-widebody fleet. The aircraft accommodates 298 passengers across Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class.
Passengers flying on the A350 can experience Emirates’ latest cabin and onboard technology, along with multi-course menus featuring regional Finnish-inspired dishes. These include juniper-marinated centre-cut salmon, seared venison with sage butter and blackberry sauce, and lingonberry marble cheesecake with berry compote.
Flight timings are designed to facilitate connections through Dubai to destinations across Asia, the Indian Ocean, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia.
The new route also expands Emirates SkyCargo’s freight network. Each Helsinki flight will offer up to 16 tonnes of bellyhold cargo capacity, supporting two-way trade between Finland and the UAE and onward connections to international markets through Dubai.
Key Finnish exports expected to benefit from the additional air cargo capacity include pharmaceuticals, electronics, machinery, timber and perishables. Emirates said the route could also strengthen commercial ties between the two countries, with the UAE serving as Finland’s largest trading partner in the Gulf.
