Airlink has launched a twice-weekly nonstop service between Cape Town and Mauritius, providing travellers and businesses in the Western Cape with a direct alternative to connections through Johannesburg.
The airline operated its inaugural flight on October 2, marking Airlink’s first service to Mauritius using its new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.
The new route links two established tourism and business markets. Mauritius welcomed more than 1.4 million visitors in 2025, with South Africa ranking among its largest source markets.
The schedule is designed to give leisure travellers more time at their destination while offering business passengers greater flexibility to arrange work trips without overnight or early-morning departures and arrivals.
Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht said the E195-E2 has enabled the airline to establish a convenient direct connection between Cape Town and Mauritius, describing the route as an important addition to its network and a boost to links between the two tourism and business centres.
The service is also expected to support commercial ties between South Africa and Mauritius. More than 140 South African companies operate in Mauritius across sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, consumer goods and information and communications technology.
Mauritius’ financial services and business process outsourcing industries further contribute to commercial links between the two countries, while its tax and offshore business incentives have helped attract investment and trade.
The Cape Town-Mauritius route operates every Tuesday and Friday using Airlink’s 124-seat E195-E2.
Flights leave Cape Town at 10:05 a.m. and arrive in Mauritius at 5:15 p.m. The return service departs Mauritius at 6:15 p.m. and reaches Cape Town at 10:35 p.m.
