Syrian Airlines plans to double its fleet to 12 aircraft and expand its network to 25 destinations by the end of 2026 as the national carrier accelerates efforts to modernize and expand its operations.
The airline introduced a new visual identity on Monday at Damascus International Airport, where its first aircraft featuring the new livery entered service, according to Syria’s official SANA news agency.
Anwar Akkad, chief executive of Syrian Aviation Holding Company, said Syrian Airlines began the year serving nine destinations and has since added Amsterdam, Vienna, Copenhagen and Moscow to its network.
The airline expects to announce additional routes soon, with the goal of reaching 25 destinations before the end of the year.
Syrian Airlines currently operates six aircraft and plans to increase the fleet to 12 during the same period. As part of its fleet renewal programme, the carrier received the first two of eight Airbus A320-family aircraft in August.
Alongside its fleet expansion, the airline is upgrading its digital infrastructure, including reservation, payment and passenger service platforms. Akkad said a new booking system designed to meet international standards is scheduled to launch in early November.
A redesigned website is already operational, while mobile applications and self-service facilities are also under development.
Omar al-Hosari, head of Syria’s Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority, said the broader modernization programme is intended to help rebuild the country’s aviation sector, improve passenger services and reconnect Syria with international aviation networks.
Syrian authorities signed a $4 billion agreement with an international consortium in November 2025 to develop, expand and operate Damascus International Airport. The agreement also includes $250 million in financing for aircraft acquisitions and support for the national carrier’s fleet.
