An air ambulance carrying seven people crashed near Simaria in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on Monday evening while en route from Ranchi to Delhi, killing all those on board, officials said.
According to Ranchi airport director Vinod Kumar, the aircraft took off from Ranchi and lost contact with air traffic control roughly 20 minutes into the flight. The crash occurred shortly thereafter in a forested area near Simaria. Local authorities and emergency response teams were dispatched to the site following reports of the incident.
A senior state government official confirmed that all seven occupants of the air ambulance — including crew members — died in the crash. The identities of the victims were yet to be officially released at the time of reporting.
.While the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, officials indicated that inclement weather may have been a contributing factor. Aviation authorities are expected to conduct a detailed probe to determine the sequence of events leading up to the loss of contact and subsequent crash.
In a statement posted on social media, a state leader expressed condolences over the tragedy, invoking Marang Buru — regarded as a supreme tribal deity — and praying for strength for the bereaved families during what was described as a deeply distressing time.
Further updates are awaited as rescue teams continue operations at the crash site and investigators begin examining technical and environmental factors related to the incident.
