The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has unveiled four new visit visa categories under a major initiative by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP). Announced on September 29, 2025, the new visas aim to attract global talent, enhance tourism, and support key growth sectors such as artificial intelligence, entertainment, and events.
This strategic expansion aligns with the UAE’s long-term vision for economic diversification and global competitiveness, opening the doors wider to specialists, entrepreneurs, tourists, and creative professionals.
The Four New Visit Visa Categories
1. AI Specialist Visa
Targeted at experts in artificial intelligence and related technologies, this visa can be issued as a single or multiple-entry permit for a set duration. Applicants must submit a letter from a UAE-based hosting or sponsoring entity operating in the tech sector, proving their relevance to the country’s growing AI ecosystem. The initiative underscores the UAE’s ambition to position itself as a global hub for AI research and innovation.
2. Entertainment Visa
Designed for performers, producers, and entertainment professionals, this visa supports the UAE’s rapidly evolving entertainment landscape. Eligible applicants must be sponsored by licensed entertainment organizers, ensuring a regulated and professional framework for international participation in the nation’s vibrant cultural scene.
3. Event Visa
This category facilitates entry for participants and attendees of festivals, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, and sporting or cultural events. Applicants need sponsorship from a public or private entity, along with documentation confirming event details and duration.
The visa aims to streamline entry for both professionals and enthusiasts attending UAE-hosted global events.
4. Tourism Visa for Cruise and Leisure Boats
Created to cater to the UAE’s booming maritime tourism sector, this visa allows multiple entries for tourists arriving via cruise ships or leisure boats. Applicants must provide an itinerary and be sponsored by a licensed company authorized for cruise and leisure tourism.
The goal is to enhance visitor convenience while strengthening tourism-related revenues.
Additional Visa Reforms
The ICP also introduced updates to existing visa regulations, including:
- Stricter financial requirements for sponsorships.
- Expanded humanitarian residency permits for widows, divorcees, and residents from conflict-affected nations.
- Enhanced criteria for business exploration visas, now requiring proof of financial solvency related to the applicant’s proposed activity.
These reforms reflect the UAE’s commitment to maintaining security, accountability, and sustainable economic engagement.
Strategic Vision and Impact
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, ICP Director General, stated that the new visa system stems from comprehensive studies and public feedback. The aim is to solidify the UAE’s position as a premier global destination for innovation, business, and tourism while fostering community stability and regulatory integrity.
By tailoring visa categories to align with evolving economic and cultural priorities, the UAE continues to shape a forward-looking entry system that supports growth across innovation, entertainment, and tourism sectors.
These changes represent a significant step forward in the nation’s visa policy—broadening access, streamlining procedures, and reinforcing the UAE’s reputation as an international hub for opportunity and excellence.
