Kuwait’s civil aviation authority has rejected reports that transit operations at Kuwait International Airport have resumed, saying the suspension remains in effect until further notice.
Abdullah Al Rajhi, spokesman for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, said the authority had not reached any agreement with Jazeera Airways or other airlines regarding the restoration of transit services, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Al Rajhi said administrative action had been taken against Jazeera Airways after the airline began offering transit flights and announced their resumption without obtaining prior approval from the aviation authority.
He stressed that the instructions and decisions suspending transit operations have remained effective since attacks began in the region. The measures were introduced to ensure the highest levels of safety and security for passengers, aircraft and airport facilities amid the prevailing regional security situation.
According to Al Rajhi, the action against Jazeera Airways was taken in accordance with applicable regulations after the carrier violated the authority’s decisions, instructions and controls governing transit operations.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said any decision to end the suspension and restore transit services would be communicated officially through its authorised channels.
