Saudi Arabia welcomed 5,443,393 Umrah pilgrims in the second quarter of 2025, according to the latest statistics released by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). This figure highlights the growing global appeal of Umrah, with a significant number of both domestic and international visitors making the pilgrimage to the Kingdom.

Of the total pilgrims, 61.6% were male (3,352,506), while 38.4% were female (2,090,887). Domestic pilgrims made up the majority, with 4.1 million individuals traveling within the Kingdom to perform Umrah. Among these, 2.1 million were Saudis, accounting for 51.6% of the total domestic pilgrims, while the remaining 1.3 million were non-Saudi residents.
International pilgrims numbered 1,324,418, with 49.3% male (653,513) and 50.7% female (670,905). Most of these international visitors arrived by air (71.6%), while 28.2% entered via land and a small fraction (0.2%) arrived by sea.
A closer look at the domestic pilgrims reveals that 62.9% performed Umrah with their families, while 28.7% completed the journey alone, and 8.4% traveled with friends. The Makkah region, home to the Holy Mosque, accounted for the highest number of domestic pilgrims, with 1.7 million, representing 43.1% of the total. Pilgrims from Riyadh and the Northern Borders regions followed, with over 600,000 and more than 9,000, respectively.

These statistics serve as a valuable resource for policymakers and stakeholders, ensuring that services and infrastructure are aligned with the growing number of Umrah pilgrims. The report underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing the pilgrimage experience and supporting its Vision 2030 goals for expanding religious tourism.
