Türkiye is targeting tourism revenues of more than $68.7 billion in 2026, as authorities and industry leaders push for stronger, more balanced growth across regions and seasons.
Firuz Baglikaya, head of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB), said the country’s rich cultural and natural attractions—combined with its hospitality and cuisine—provide a solid foundation for competitiveness. However, he stressed that unlocking Türkiye’s full tourism potential will require more robust strategies, particularly to distribute visitor flows more evenly throughout the year and across different regions.
Between January and November 2025, Türkiye welcomed over 58.48 million visitors, including Turkish citizens living abroad. This puts the country on track to meet its year-end targets of 65 million visitors and $64 billion in tourism revenue under the Medium-Term Program.
Baglikaya noted that Türkiye’s relatively higher pricing compared with competing destinations has softened demand during the traditional peak months of July and August. As a result, more travellers are shifting their trips to September through November, when prices are generally more attractive.
He also pointed to untapped potential in major source markets such as Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom, suggesting further growth could be achieved through better market diversification and targeted promotion.
Non-seasonal tourism segments are playing an increasingly important role, particularly in the final quarter of the year. Winter sports, conference and event tourism, and health tourism are contributing to steadier year-round demand, reflecting a gradual shift away from heavy summer season dependence.
Looking ahead, global organisations including the UN World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council forecast continued expansion in international travel. Tourism currently accounts for around 10 percent of the global economy, a share that is expected to rise to 11.5 percent by 2035, supporting a positive long-term outlook for the sector.
In addition to helping with general inquiries, the service is offering critical assistance, including information on travel disruptions, safety measures, and alternative arrangements. Qatar Tourism encourages all visitors to reach out if they require any support or have concerns regarding their stay in the country. The initiative underscores Qatar's commitment to ensuring the well-being and security of its visitors during challenging times.
