The Saudi Arabian Embassy in Moscow has reaffirmed that the mutual visa-free travel agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Russian Federation has not yet entered into force.
In a statement posted on its official account on X (formerly Twitter), the embassy explained that the agreement’s implementation remains contingent upon completing the necessary legal and procedural measures by both countries, in accordance with the frameworks and protocols approved by their respective authorities.
The embassy emphasized that an official announcement regarding the launch date will be made once the agreement is fully ratified by the competent bodies in Riyadh and Moscow. It urged travelers to continue following the current visa procedures until the agreement is formally activated.
The visa exemption accord was signed on December 1, 2025, during the Saudi-Russian Business Forum held in Riyadh, in the presence of officials and business leaders from both nations. The agreement reflects the growing diplomatic and economic cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Russia, particularly as the two countries continue to strengthen their ties through trade, energy partnerships, and cultural exchange initiatives.
Once implemented, the arrangement will allow citizens of Saudi Arabia and Russia to enter each other’s territories without obtaining a visa, facilitating easier travel for tourism, business, and official visits. The move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to enhance international mobility and partnerships, in line with the goals of Vision 2030, which seeks to promote tourism, investment, and global connectivity.
