The Philippine Embassy in the UAE has reminded travelers, especially Filipino tourists, about updated entry rules for Georgia. Starting 1 January 2026, all visitors entering Georgia for tourism are required to have valid health and accident insurance.
Travelers must carry proof of their insurance, either in paper or digital form. The policy should be in English or Georgian and must remain valid for the entire duration of the stay, covering both arrival and departure dates.
Insurance Coverage Details
The minimum required coverage is 30,000 Georgian Lari (around USD 11,153 or AED 41,000). Tourists can obtain insurance from Georgian or international providers, as long as the policy meets Georgia’s official requirements.
The embassy stressed that the insurance should clearly list the parties involved, the area covered, and the specific risks included. It must also show the start and end dates of the coverage, the premium, and payment terms.
Why This Matters for UAE Residents
Georgia remains a popular winter destination for UAE residents, particularly expatriates, thanks to its proximity and easy visa access. The embassy highlighted, however, that some travelers are exempt from this new insurance rule.
Who Is Exempt
Exemptions apply to holders of diplomatic or special visas, travelers with diplomatic, official, or service passports, and accredited staff of diplomatic missions and international organizations, including their families. Drivers working in international road freight or passenger transport are also not required to have the insurance.
The embassy advised all travelers to make sure their documents are complete before heading to the airport to prevent any issues with Georgian immigration.
