Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has dismissed reports suggesting that flight services at Kuwait International Airport are scheduled to restart, stating that the airport is still shut and that no authorization has been issued to resume operations.
In a statement released on Thursday, the authority said an incorrect announcement had circulated online, reportedly originating from an airline. The DGCA warned that the claim is inaccurate and not endorsed or approved by any competent aviation body.
Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the DGCA’s official spokesperson, said the information being shared is not true and emphasized that no ruling has been made regarding the reopening of air traffic.
The DGCA urged members of the public to rely exclusively on official updates and to refrain from spreading unverified information appearing on social media. The authority also said it remains committed to transparency and will announce any future changes through formal channels.
Kuwait’s airspace and airport operations have been suspended since February 28 this year. Authorities said the temporary closure was implemented in response to regional political and security tensions, and that it remains in effect as a precaution to protect passengers, airlines, and aviation activities.
