Qatar Airways has expanded its footprint in Saudi Arabia with the launch of three weekly non-stop flights from Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Red Sea International Airport (RSI), operated by daa International. The new service underscores the airline’s commitment to strengthening air connectivity within the Kingdom.
The Red Sea becomes Qatar Airways’ 12th destination in Saudi Arabia, joining Abha, AlUla, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, NEOM, Qassim, Riyadh, Tabuk, Taif, and Yanbu. The addition reinforces the carrier’s growing network in the Kingdom, where it now operates over 130 weekly flights across 12 gateways.
The inaugural flight was welcomed at RSI by senior representatives from both Qatar Airways and Red Sea Global (RSG). The Qatar Airways delegation was led by Abdullah Al Malki, Senior Vice President of Business Control and Financial Support; Karthik Viswanathan, Vice President of Sales for the Middle East, Caucasus, Pakistan & ISC; and Sheikh Jassim bin Fahad Al-Thani, Head of Aeropolitical & Regulatory Affairs. They were received by RSG Group CEO John Pagano and RSI CEO Andrew Tyler-Smith.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, described the launch as a reflection of the airline’s long-term investment in the Saudi market.
“We are proud to expand our global network with the inauguration of service to The Red Sea,” Al-Meer said. “This new route, a testament to the close ties between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, offers world-class access to one of the Middle East’s most exciting emerging destinations.”
RSG Group CEO John Pagano welcomed the new connection as a boost to Saudi Arabia’s tourism ambitions.
“Welcoming Qatar Airways to Red Sea International Airport is a key step in opening The Red Sea destination to more global travellers,” Pagano said. “With Shura Island now open and our second destination AMAALA set to welcome guests soon, this enhanced connectivity will allow more people to experience the best of Saudi culture, hospitality, and nature.”
RSI CEO Andrew Tyler-Smith added that the Doha–Red Sea route marks a major milestone for the airport.
“This new service opens up critical access to key European markets for the first time,” he said. “Each new route strengthens RSI’s role as a strategic hub for luxury tourism.”
Located on Saudi Arabia’s western coastline between Umluj and Al Wajh, The Red Sea destination encompasses more than 90 pristine islands, coral reefs, desert dunes, and volcanic landscapes. Currently home to six luxury resorts, the destination’s centerpiece, Shura Island, began welcoming guests in 2025 with 11 world-class resorts, a championship golf course, marina, and upscale retail and dining experiences.
With over 170 destinations worldwide, Qatar Airways’ latest expansion continues to link travellers from six continents to Saudi Arabia’s growing tourism frontier.
