Oman’s national carrier, Oman Air, has secured approval from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to operate regular scheduled flights to several new destinations, significantly broadening its international and regional network and enhancing the Sultanate’s aviation connectivity.
New Routes Bolster Regional and Global Connectivity
The newly approved services include:
- Muscat to Baghdad – direct flights starting December 16, 2025, strengthening ties with Iraq’s capital and boosting travel options for business and leisure visitors.
- Muscat to Copenhagen (via Baghdad) – direct service to Denmark’s capital also beginning December 16, 2025, opening a key European gateway for inbound tourists and outbound travellers.
- Muscat to Taif, Saudi Arabia – scheduled to launch January 31, 2026, this route marks Oman Air’s deepening presence in the Gulf’s busiest travel corridors.
- Salalah to Sheremetyevo International Airport (Moscow) – set to commence December 25, 2026, connecting Oman’s southern tourism hub directly with Russia’s largest city.
These additions reflect Oman Air’s strategic vision to better link Oman with key markets across the Middle East and Europe, offering travellers increased accessibility and more choices when planning journeys for tourism, business, or cultural exchange.
Impact on Tourism and Aviation
The expanded network is expected to boost inbound tourism and support Oman’s broader goal of becoming a more connected aviation and tourism hub. Direct services to destinations like Copenhagen and Baghdad enhance the Sultanate’s appeal to European and Middle Eastern travellers, while the Salalah–Moscow link is poised to attract new segments of leisure and seasonal travel demand.
By aligning with broader industry trends and responding to growing demand for international travel, Oman Air continues to strengthen its role in regional aviation and help fuel Oman’s tourism and economic growth.
